The last month of my shopping ban is FINISHED. I think this has been the easiest month so far! I realized towards the end that I had thought about shopping maybe TWICE all month. That’s huge. I’ve really been able to appreciate things I think are beautiful without having to own them, and I’ve never been more confident that my identity is in Christ, not in my appearance!
I did allow myself to buy a few clothes for spring this month, but all from ethically-sourced brands! I only bought clothing that I truly love and I know I’ll get a lot of use out of. Now that it’s FINALLY getting warmer in NC, I’ll go through all of my spring/summer clothes from last year and see what I can give away!
What I’ve learned this month:
- Shopping doesn’t bring me anywhere close to as much joy as Jesus does.
- I used shopping as a temporary distraction from my real problems, but now I want to face them.
- Giving is a much greater blessing than buying!
This shopping ban has really been a great experience for me, so I’m going to extend it for another 3 months! But first, I’m going to buy a few books from my favorite used bookstore, because I’ve really missed that. Here’s to 3 more months of learning and growing!
