I’ve been a crafter and a DIYer forever. When I was 4, I remember staring at the seams in my jeans and thinking that sewing looked so easy! From those seams, it was completely obvious to me exactly how to do it! My mom handed me a needle and some thread and I just taught myself how to sew. I made clothes for my friends’ and my American Girl dolls for years.
My interests have (obviously) changed since then, and now I love hand lettering, wood burning, and heat embossing everything I can get my hands on. I can’t stop crafting, and I can’t stop thinking of new designs! So what better venture to start in 2017 than an Etsy shop?!
So I’m welcoming WhimsyCraftCo to my list of creative side-hustles! YAY. Y’all I’m actually really excited about this. And nervous. But mostly excited. I just love love love making beautiful things that have sentimental meaning. Whether they’re inspirational, faith-based, or just relatable, I’m so excited to share those things with you all and see them on the walls of your lovely homes.
I firmly believe in doing something creative everyday. We’ve all got a creative bone in our bodies, and I use mine every. single. day. Sometimes it’s just lettering a verse in my Bible, sometimes it’s sitting down with my sketchbook and drawing, sometimes it’s getting out ALL my watercolors and painting every piece of paper in sight. So this is all about me sharing my creations with all of you, and hoping that I can inspire you to spend time being creative too.
Just another thing I’ve been thinking about recently: creating is therapeutic. If you’re going through something (and aren’t we all because life is HARD), I’m learning that doing something I enjoy, something that makes me feel like ME, is good medicine for my soul. Creating makes me feel like the best version of myself. God gave me these gifts and who would I be if I didn’t use them?!
